Try Cinnamon Leaf Oil as is a very powerful anti-fungal and dries out the nail nicely. In my case it helped to flake off the nail that was full of fungus until a new nail started to grow. Don’t know how I lived with it for so long. Apple Cider vinegar was too mild for me. Apparently to prevent it from coming back you really have to drink Cinnamon Tea (not Cassia Cinnamon which can damage your liver). I discovered I was eating all the wrong foods and my whole body was infested with a Candida overgrowth. Drinking the Cinnamon tea really cleaned up my system. I don’t eat too much sweets or dairy anymore, which seems to be the key. Oh yeah one more thing you really have to keep your toes dry and clean. I threw all my shoes and socks away, but well worth it for the results. If you want fast results, you really have to go with Cinnamon Leaf Oil. Since then I have been using the Cinnamon oil all around the house to disinfect and get rid of bad smells and mold in the bathroom. This oil is fantastic.

Don’t be ashamed! We all have stuff like this going on. There are two trains of thought with nail polish and nail fungus. One is that it does absolutely nothing harmful, the other is that it prevents any treatment from reaching the nail with the utmost efficiency. I am inclined to say that the treatments would work their best without polish, however I also don’t think they would be rendered ineffective if you did choose to use it. If you feel more comfortable with the polish, keep it. If you find you aren’t having success, try it without. And don’t fret over what your husband will think, he chose to marry you, and a little toenail fungus isn’t going to change anything 😉

The first step in treating toenail fungus is using one of the most effective and natural ways to fight candida. In other words, you’ll likely need to make some changes in your diet and adopt a candida diet. The most crucial tactic for treating candida overgrowth is to eliminate what feeds the yeast and candida virus living in your digestive tract in the first place: sugars and conventional grain products.

Dermatophytes — fungus that grows on the skin, hair and nails but don’t penetrate tissues of the body. Athlete’s foot or Trichophyton rubrum is the most common dermatophyte and can actually infect the toenails. Infection can also begin by touching objects that have dermatophytes on them, such as nail clippers, nail files, socks, shoes, shower floors, etc. Dermatophytes are the cause of most fungal toenail infections.

In the morning, you use Probelle coconut oil body wash to clean the area and then apply the nail polish solution to the dried nails. In the evening, you again wash with the Probelle cleanser but this time you apply the Natural Fungal Treatment Gel Formula to the affected area and let it dry. The company claims that 94 percent of people in a clinical trial saw improvement from the system within six weeks.
While they may not seem connected, the health of your digestive system can have an impact on the growth of nail fungus. Healthy gut bacteria can help prevent the growth of fungi and microbes in the body; an imbalance of flora in the digestive system can lead to fungal overgrowth. Maintaining gut health can help minimize the spread of nail fungus and keep it from returning in the future.
I cured a toenail in two weeks using a 50/50 mixture of borax and baking soda. Borax is a kind of salt… I mixed it together with a touch of water to make a paste (I mixed up a small container full all at once so I didn’t need to mix it every time I used it). I cut the infected nail back as far as I comfortably coud and cleaned in well with soap and water. Then I scrubbed the borax/baking soda mixture into the nail getting as much as I could under the nail. I wash it off then repeat but this time I leave it coating the toenail. I did this twice a day for two weeks and my infection is completely gone. I’ve tried every over the counter remedy, prescription strenth polish, teatree oil, etc. This really works well.
1. Tea tree oil can be helpful when treating toenail fungus. It is an antiseptic in addition to having anti fungal properties. This means it can be quite beneficial for toenail fungus specifically. The oil is also used to treat other kinds of skin infections. Tea tree oil is beneficial as a treatment since it is able to penetrate deep into thick nails to kill all underlying fungus. As well, it can strengthen the immune system to prevent fungal infection and heals the fungus, bringing back the nails smoothness, shine and clarity. Mix a few drops of the oil in one teaspoon of either olive oil or coconut oil. Use a cotton ball to apply the mixture on to the affected toenail and leave it on for 10 minutes. Use a toothbrush or other brush to gently scrub the affected nail. You can do they a couple of times a day until the fungus has cleared and you are happy with the results.

Nail fungus; be it on your toenails or your fingernails is an unpleasant business to have to deal with. Officially known as onychomcosis, it is most often caused by moisture trapped in a warm dark place (because of shoes, this is why it more commonly effects toenails) which is the environment fungus thrives in. In some cases it can be caused by mold, or yeast, but it’s still collectively called nail fungus-nail mold or nail yeast just doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.

3. Lemon juice can be used to successfully treat toenail fungus. It to has antiseptic and anti fungal properties to eliminate the fungus. As mentioned in other treatments, it is not just important to kill the bacteria and fungus present on the toenail, but you will also want to stop it from spreading. Lemon juice can stop the fungus from spreading since it contains citric acid. First, apply fresh lemon juice onto the infected nail. Leave this on for about 30 minutes. After this time, rinse the lemon juice off thoroughly with warm water. You can use this treatment a couple of times a day until you obtain the positive results you are looking for. You can also try mixing equal parts lemon juice and olive oil, massaging the mixture onto the infected toe. Leave this on for a couple of hours and then rinse it off thoroughly. The olive oil will provide the added benefits of softening the skin and treating the nail, while the lemon juice controls the fungus. Again this can be done a couple of times a day.
The final step to removing fungal and yeast infections is taking supplements, such as the probiotic supplement that I mentioned above. A quality probiotic supplement will help you get rid of the yeast and candida in your system that’s truly causing your toenail fungus. I personally recommend a probiotic supplement that has at the very least 10+ strains of probiotics with at least 15 billion CFUs.

OPI Fungus Fix is manufactured by the same company that sells a wide range of cosmetic nail products, such as nail polish and lacquer. OPI claims to use all natural ingredients in this solution, and that the product has been tested for safety and are said to cause no irritation. The manufacturer states that users will see an improvement in their nails within 2 to 3 weeks, although there seems to be no guarantee offered. OPI Fungus Fix is odorless.

Also, the Gimme-Five blogger says he treated his nail fungus by putting vinegar (or Nonyx gel) at the base of his nail twice or three times daily. If you leave a little space around the base of your nail bed where you don’t polish, which looks better anyway, this particular treatment might be affective, as it would reach the nail where it needs to, which still allowing your nails to be polished.
Many of the most popular options for topical toenail fungus treatment are wholly natural approaches and liquid solutions. However, the Fungi Nail Antifungal ointment uses a different approach. This FDA-approved medication is a thick ointment that gets rid of fungus, soothes pain, and helps restore the skin and nail. Zinc undecylenate and undecylenic acid are the active ingredients for Fungi Nail, both FDA approved and designed for eliminating fungus.
If you’ve tried a lot of toenail fungus treatments and you’re sick of the messy ointments, polishes, and gels, it may be time for a balm. Unlike these other solutions, a balm is a clean and comforting option to help soothe your pain and cure your fungal problem. FineVine Super Balm is one of the best antifungal balms on the market today and one that remains popular with its customers.
Baking soda is not fungicidal-that is, it does not kill the fungus. It is, however, fungistatic, which means it can prevent fungus from growing and spreading. The reason it acts like this is because it is alkaline-the opposite of acidic-and fungus is able to flourish when its environment is more acidic. It seems counter-intuitive then, that using vinegar to kill nail fungus would be a good idea, but vinegar is a fairly weak acid, and will help kill off the fungus without altering the Ph. of the environment in a harmful way.
What triggers candida in the first place? This overgrowth of yeast can develop from a number of factors, including antibiotic use, poor digestion, low immune system function, a high sugar and grain diet, stress or hormonal changes. All these create an acidic environment that encourages yeast growth and the presence of candida. Many people opt for over-the-counter anti-fungal creams or even medications, but they only treat the symptoms, not the environment that allows candida to flourish.
Claire, do you have any input on the salt remedy for nail fungus? I have nail fungus under on of my thumbnails and it has been totally resistant to any and all treatments I’ve tried. I think at some point the nail must have become slightly detached from the thumb and allowed water/moisture to get underneath the nail. We know how fungus loves moist areas. The rest is history! Thanks for any information you can provide.
Fungal nail infections can be difficult to treat. Talk with your doctor if self-care strategies and over-the-counter (nonprescription) products haven't helped. Treatment depends on the severity of your condition and the type of fungus causing it. It can take months to see results. And even if your nail condition improves, repeat infections are common.
“They are effective in treating athlete’s foot and may help infected nails to some degree, but they are unlikely to clear fungal nail infections because those formulations do not effectively penetrate into the nail itself,” explains Dr. Zeichner. One such topical solution that does sink into the nail? A brush-on treatment called Jublia, an FDA-approved option you can ask your dermatologist about.

I had toe fungus for probably about three days and I was looking for someway to get rid of it! then I saw someone saying you can put bleach on it. so just today was sitting on the couch and was looking at my nail and I completely removed it with no pain at all. under it was like a black green color which was the fungus. then I remembered the comment I read about the bleach and how it kills the fungus. so I got a small bowl of bleach dipped a Cotten ball and put it just on the fungus and repeated several times. very quickly I did notice positive results. afterwards I thought just to be safe I should use nail clippers and cut off the dead fungus. (doing this also had no pain) there is a little bit o blood when you cut it off so have something to clean that up. so now I’m hoping when my nail grows back it will be heathy again! Hope this helps someone!!
