Try Cinnamon Leaf Oil as is a very powerful anti-fungal and dries out the nail nicely. In my case it helped to flake off the nail that was full of fungus until a new nail started to grow. Don’t know how I lived with it for so long. Apple Cider vinegar was too mild for me. Apparently to prevent it from coming back you really have to drink Cinnamon Tea (not Cassia Cinnamon which can damage your liver). I discovered I was eating all the wrong foods and my whole body was infested with a Candida overgrowth. Drinking the Cinnamon tea really cleaned up my system. I don’t eat too much sweets or dairy anymore, which seems to be the key. Oh yeah one more thing you really have to keep your toes dry and clean. I threw all my shoes and socks away, but well worth it for the results. If you want fast results, you really have to go with Cinnamon Leaf Oil. Since then I have been using the Cinnamon oil all around the house to disinfect and get rid of bad smells and mold in the bathroom. This oil is fantastic.
“They are effective in treating athlete’s foot and may help infected nails to some degree, but they are unlikely to clear fungal nail infections because those formulations do not effectively penetrate into the nail itself,” explains Dr. Zeichner. One such topical solution that does sink into the nail? A brush-on treatment called Jublia, an FDA-approved option you can ask your dermatologist about.
A lot of people take their feet for granted and tend to neglect them. Foot health is a part of overall health, however. Cracked, yellowing or discolored toenails do more than just affect your ability to wear flip flops; it may be the result of a nail fungus. Onychomycosis – more commonly referred to as toenail fungus – can cause nails to thicken, yellow, and crack, as well as cause pain, swelling, and inflammation of the toe.
Food intolerances — Some yeast infections are due to food allergies. Try to avoid foods that cause negative reactions of any kind and pay attention to symptoms you experience when eating things like dairy, eggs, certain nuts, wheat-containing foods and grains. If you think you have a food allergy or sensitivity, try an elimination diet to figure out what foods are causing intolerance and work on removing those foods.

Also, the Gimme-Five blogger says he treated his nail fungus by putting vinegar (or Nonyx gel) at the base of his nail twice or three times daily. If you leave a little space around the base of your nail bed where you don’t polish, which looks better anyway, this particular treatment might be affective, as it would reach the nail where it needs to, which still allowing your nails to be polished.

Nail fungus; be it on your toenails or your fingernails is an unpleasant business to have to deal with. Officially known as onychomcosis, it is most often caused by moisture trapped in a warm dark place (because of shoes, this is why it more commonly effects toenails) which is the environment fungus thrives in. In some cases it can be caused by mold, or yeast, but it’s still collectively called nail fungus-nail mold or nail yeast just doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.
While they may not seem connected, the health of your digestive system can have an impact on the growth of nail fungus. Healthy gut bacteria can help prevent the growth of fungi and microbes in the body; an imbalance of flora in the digestive system can lead to fungal overgrowth. Maintaining gut health can help minimize the spread of nail fungus and keep it from returning in the future.

Dermatophytes — fungus that grows on the skin, hair and nails but don’t penetrate tissues of the body. Athlete’s foot or Trichophyton rubrum is the most common dermatophyte and can actually infect the toenails. Infection can also begin by touching objects that have dermatophytes on them, such as nail clippers, nail files, socks, shoes, shower floors, etc. Dermatophytes are the cause of most fungal toenail infections.
I started treating the yeast with probiotics, oregano oil and garlic capsules. After 2-3 weeks all of the symptoms are gone. I keep taking the garlic tablets and the probiotics and will continue to so, I guess, forever. Of course, eliminating sweets and white flower, which feed the fungus, would work better but I just don’t think I could sustain that type of diet.

Last, but not least, the secret to natural and effective toenail fungus treatment — and getting rid of it for good — is using essential oils.  I personally recommend two powerful essential oils below if you want to get rid of toenail fungus. I consider this to be one of the most crucial steps! Even if you do this one thing to solve your problem, with or without changing your diet (although you should change your diet too!), you may be able to get rid of toenail fungus.

Use it daily for at least two weeks. You may see and feel improvements in the health of your infected skin after the first week, but treat the infected foot for an additional week or two after it improves to ensure that all of the fungus has been killed. I used the vinegar soak method morning and night daily on a persistent foot fungus infection and it disappeared completely after two weeks.

Cultured dairy or fermented foods (ideally organic and raw) — these are beneficial for replacing good bacteria in the gut since they provide probiotics. Probiotics help control yeast and also have numerous immune-enhancing effects. For other sources of probiotics, in addition to yogurt or kefir try cultured foods like kimchi, kombucha or sauerkraut.

My husband has been suffering from awful toe fungus on both of his feet for years. We have searched high and low for something that would get rid of this naturally and after years, someone recommended we look at Neem. Skeptical at first, we did some research and found that the top Neem benefit is that it is anti fungal. We found that Neem Oil is great this way we can kill the fungus and moisturize at the same time.
