When I soaked my feet in the Listerine for 3o minutes to help with one of my toenails that might be a fungus the Listerine dried up on my feet and didn’t come off very easily. Had to scrub like crazy in the shower to get all the Listerine of my feet. Why was the Listerine dried to my skin and so difficult to get off and how can i prevent this from happening again?
Cultured dairy or fermented foods (ideally organic and raw) — these are beneficial for replacing good bacteria in the gut since they provide probiotics. Probiotics help control yeast and also have numerous immune-enhancing effects. For other sources of probiotics, in addition to yogurt or kefir try cultured foods like kimchi, kombucha or sauerkraut.
“They are effective in treating athlete’s foot and may help infected nails to some degree, but they are unlikely to clear fungal nail infections because those formulations do not effectively penetrate into the nail itself,” explains Dr. Zeichner. One such topical solution that does sink into the nail? A brush-on treatment called Jublia, an FDA-approved option you can ask your dermatologist about.
If you’ve tried a lot of toenail fungus treatments and you’re sick of the messy ointments, polishes, and gels, it may be time for a balm. Unlike these other solutions, a balm is a clean and comforting option to help soothe your pain and cure your fungal problem. FineVine Super Balm is one of the best antifungal balms on the market today and one that remains popular with its customers.
Funginix Antifungal Treatment comes in a nondescript medical bottle. However, the solution inside is much more impressive. This solution is made of a combination of the most popular treatments for toenail fungus on the market today, creating a unique formula. Funginix uses undecylenic acid to kill fungus as well as tea tree oil, camphor, lavender oil, and menthol to help heal the foot and treat symptoms. Funginix explains that its innovation isn’t a new ingredient, just simply a better mix of the most effective treatments.
Food intolerances — Some yeast infections are due to food allergies. Try to avoid foods that cause negative reactions of any kind and pay attention to symptoms you experience when eating things like dairy, eggs, certain nuts, wheat-containing foods and grains. If you think you have a food allergy or sensitivity, try an elimination diet to figure out what foods are causing intolerance and work on removing those foods.

What triggers candida in the first place? This overgrowth of yeast can develop from a number of factors, including antibiotic use, poor digestion, low immune system function, a high sugar and grain diet, stress or hormonal changes. All these create an acidic environment that encourages yeast growth and the presence of candida. Many people opt for over-the-counter anti-fungal creams or even medications, but they only treat the symptoms, not the environment that allows candida to flourish.

In folk remedies, garlic has always found a significant place due to its health benefits. Modern studies have further proved the excellent anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of garlic. There is this compound in garlic called ajoene which is a strong anti-fungal agent. This ajoene is actually formed by the combination of the compound allicin and the enzyme allinase, both present in raw garlic. When you crush or mash a raw garlic clove, these two components allicin and allinase come into contact and form ajoene.
I had toe fungus for probably about three days and I was looking for someway to get rid of it! then I saw someone saying you can put bleach on it. so just today was sitting on the couch and was looking at my nail and I completely removed it with no pain at all. under it was like a black green color which was the fungus. then I remembered the comment I read about the bleach and how it kills the fungus. so I got a small bowl of bleach dipped a Cotten ball and put it just on the fungus and repeated several times. very quickly I did notice positive results. afterwards I thought just to be safe I should use nail clippers and cut off the dead fungus. (doing this also had no pain) there is a little bit o blood when you cut it off so have something to clean that up. so now I’m hoping when my nail grows back it will be heathy again! Hope this helps someone!!
Like athletes foot, you can work towards preventing enail fungus by keeping feet clean and, most importantly, dry. Don’t re-wear socks, and stick to open toed shoes if possible. It takes time and patience to get rid of toenail fungus, and for the nail to grow back healthy and normal again. Be diligent about applying your treatments (I can’t stress that enough, it’s really the key to getting these to work the best they can) and don’t overlook preventative methods to keep the fungus from coming back.
You might consider a “water-based” nail polish, such as Acquarella. It’s “halaal,” which, to Muslim women, means it allows water to pass through and reach the nail. I’m not sure if all water-based polishes are considered halaal, but I know Acquarella is. I don’t know if this would mean that any “treatments” would still get through to the nail, but I do know this polish allows your nails to breathe at least.
Candida albicans is a common yeast that grows inside the human body. In healthy people, other bacteria and immune cells keep this yeast under control so it doesn’t cause any problems, but in some people candida can become overgrown and cause infections in various areas. One of the ways candida shows up is through the skin where it can cause noticeable reactions or infections. Other ways are on the mouth, vagina and anus.
Use it daily for at least two weeks. You may see and feel improvements in the health of your infected skin after the first week, but treat the infected foot for an additional week or two after it improves to ensure that all of the fungus has been killed. I used the vinegar soak method morning and night daily on a persistent foot fungus infection and it disappeared completely after two weeks.
I have had my infection for almost a year, I have tried vinegar, baking soda mouthwash, Lysol cleaner, yeast infection cream, yogurt, and probably many more. I have tried it all the only thing I haven’t tried was cutting my fingers off. I have it on every finger and every toe. Last week I tried PENETAN CREAM MEDICATED, IT WORKS GREAT IT HAS GOTTEN RID OF TWO VERY BAD SPOTS THAT HAVE ACCUMULATED FOR I YEAR, IT IS GREAT PLEASE GIVE IT A TRY I REALLY, REALLY HOPE IT HELPS SOMEONE, U HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT IS THE MEDIATED KIND.
I have had a problem with itchy, scaly feet and thick fungus ridden toenails on one foot for years. I think a lot of the home treatments didn’t work because I wasn’t doing them every single day. So, here’s what I did: one day I would do a foot soak of half vinegar half water for 10ish minutes, the next day I would do a half peroxide half water soak for 10ish minutes (always erring on the side of more water for each soak). I alternated days for two weeks and then occasionally afterwards, like, maybe 2-3 times a month I’d do one soak with either the vinegar OR peroxide. Occasionally I use coconut oil when my feet are dry, so I’m sure that helps, but it’s not consistent.
Olive leaf extract has strong anti-microbial properties that can cure your nail fungus effectively. Olive tree (Olea europaea) has this active ingredient called Oleuropein present in all its parts. Oleuropein possesses strong anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic properties. A Dutch study found that oleuropein inhibits the growth of viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites. It interferes with the production of amino acid for viruses and probably has the ability to directly penetrate the infected cells and stop viral replication.
In the morning, you use Probelle coconut oil body wash to clean the area and then apply the nail polish solution to the dried nails. In the evening, you again wash with the Probelle cleanser but this time you apply the Natural Fungal Treatment Gel Formula to the affected area and let it dry. The company claims that 94 percent of people in a clinical trial saw improvement from the system within six weeks.

Many of the most popular options for topical toenail fungus treatment are wholly natural approaches and liquid solutions. However, the Fungi Nail Antifungal ointment uses a different approach. This FDA-approved medication is a thick ointment that gets rid of fungus, soothes pain, and helps restore the skin and nail. Zinc undecylenate and undecylenic acid are the active ingredients for Fungi Nail, both FDA approved and designed for eliminating fungus.
I’ve read about good results from various methods. I’m just beginning a regime, but am wondering would it help or hinder to try two methods at the same time, such as the vinegar/water soak and Vicks? It seems if there are multiple types of fungus and some remedies work on one type but not another, I wondered if this might speed up the results. I just realized I had toe fungus on multiple toes after thinking they were just damaged due to hiking. It’s been over three years and I am ready to have my normal toes back!
If you see a white or yellow spot under the tip of your toenail, it can be a fungal infection of nails commonly called toenail fungus (Onychomycosis). If left untreated, this nail fungus goes deeper into your nails and make them thick, crusty and discolored with crumbling edges. Your nails thus become unsightly and may suffer from pain too. This nail fungus is a stubborn lot and it takes quite a long time to get rid of nail fungus. Not only this, once cured this fungal infection may recur again and again. There are certain home remedies for toenail fungus that can come to your rescue. However, you should be patient with these home remedies as they may take weeks or even months to cure your nail fungus.

Generally a nail fungal infection will start off as a white or yellow spot on the tip of the nail. As it begins to develop, the nail may become thickened, brittle/crumbly/ragged, change shape, become darker in color, or get dull. If the nail starts to separate from the nail bed, it is called onycholysis, which can be quite uncomfortable. Without treatment, toenail fungus can go on indefinitely. Even with treatment, it can occur on and off.
I can tell you my own mother struggled with toenail fungus on her big toe for over 10 years, and the reason why she originally got it and then continued to struggle with this fungus was the chemotherapy she went through when diagnosed with breast cancer years ago. After going through chemo, she had systemic yeast and candida issues and then developed the toenail fungus. The exact treatment I detail below is what we used with her to successfully erase her fungus.
In a study conducted back in 1990, the researchers found that grapefruit seed extract as effective and sometimes even better than 30 antibiotics and 18 fungicides. This makes this natural extract derived from the seeds and pulp of very nutritious grapefruit suitable to cure a wide variety of fungal infections. It can be applied topically as well as taken internally. When taken internally, it cures yeast infections, thrush, candidiasis, nail infections and athlete’s foot.
For topical treatment try Ceylon Cinnamon Leaf Oil with 75% Eugenol. This is one of the most powerful essential oils you can get and kills bacteria and fungus far more effectively. Dilute to 1% with 99% water and apply. Results within a week for mild cases. A really stubborn case with the toenail all destroyed will take 7 months until a new toenail grows.
The key to effectively fighting toenail fungus with essential oils is consistency. You need to be religious with using essential oils to see lasting results. You can’t do this once a day, then miss a day here and there and say you’re not seeing changes. If you use these two oils four times a day for two months, in 90+ percent of cases, it will clear up your toenail fungus for good!
With natural antiseptic and antifungal properties, castor oil and tea tree oil for nail fungus have been used for centuries. Undiluted tea tree oil can be applied directly to affected nails to help kill fungus; ten minutes after application, gently massage the oil into the nail using an old toothbrush. When applied to surrounding skin, tea tree oil is best diluted with a carrier oil such as coconut or olive oil. Continue to use daily until several weeks after new nail growth has occurred to prevent the fungus from returning.

The fairly low price of OPI Fungus Fix could make it an attractive alternative to treating nail fungus were it not for the fact that you may not be able to get more if you need it. If you’re willing to take a chance on a limited available supply, and have not had much success with other products, then by all means, give it try. For those who worry that their nail fungus infection will not be cleared up quickly by Fungus Fix, you should probably look elsewhere for help.
