Dermatophytes — fungus that grows on the skin, hair and nails but don’t penetrate tissues of the body. Athlete’s foot or Trichophyton rubrum is the most common dermatophyte and can actually infect the toenails. Infection can also begin by touching objects that have dermatophytes on them, such as nail clippers, nail files, socks, shoes, shower floors, etc. Dermatophytes are the cause of most fungal toenail infections.
Toenail fungus is a very common disease of the foot nails. Nail infection may affect toenails or fingernails, but toenail infections are particularly common. Some of the causes for this problem are sweating heavily, being in a humid environment, psoriasis and wearing socks and shoes that prevent ventilation and don’t absorb perspiration. Another common causes are going barefoot in damp public places such as swimming pools, gyms and shower rooms, having athlete’s foot, minor skin or nail injury, damaged nail or other infection, having diabetes or circulation problems and a weakened immune system.
I had toe fungus for probably about three days and I was looking for someway to get rid of it! then I saw someone saying you can put bleach on it. so just today was sitting on the couch and was looking at my nail and I completely removed it with no pain at all. under it was like a black green color which was the fungus. then I remembered the comment I read about the bleach and how it kills the fungus. so I got a small bowl of bleach dipped a Cotten ball and put it just on the fungus and repeated several times. very quickly I did notice positive results. afterwards I thought just to be safe I should use nail clippers and cut off the dead fungus. (doing this also had no pain) there is a little bit o blood when you cut it off so have something to clean that up. so now I’m hoping when my nail grows back it will be heathy again! Sounds like you were doing a candida cleanse. I’ve had great success doing a candida cleanse for chronic bronchitis; in the process of doing it my skin cleared up; migraines and PMS disappeared; and joint aches subsided. Everyone who knew me commented on who good I looked. I’ve been dealing with a toenail fungus for 10+ years and bad itching on the arch of my foot for a year now. Started a candida cleanse taking caprylic acid, probiotics and reducing my sugar and flour intake, and the foot itching started to subside and the rash began to clear up. When I forget to take my supplements, it flares up. Also used oregano oil on my toenail and it started to grow in normally = 3 drops of oregano oil mixed with 1 teaspoon olive oil applied daily for three weeks.
Don’t be ashamed! We all have stuff like this going on. There are two trains of thought with nail polish and nail fungus. One is that it does absolutely nothing harmful, the other is that it prevents any treatment from reaching the nail with the utmost efficiency. I am inclined to say that the treatments would work their best without polish, however I also don’t think they would be rendered ineffective if you did choose to use it. If you feel more comfortable with the polish, keep it. If you find you aren’t having success, try it without. And don’t fret over what your husband will think, he chose to marry you, and a little toenail fungus isn’t going to change anything 😉
This pantry staple can help cure nail fungus and is also a wonderful home remedy for foot rot when applied topically or taken internally. Mix apple cider vinegar (do not use white vinegar) and Epsom salt with hot water and soak your feet in the solution twice a day for at least thirty minutes to help kill the nail fungus. Likewise, mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with eight ounces of water – as well as a bit of honey for sweetness – and drink once a day.

I contracted a nail fungus on my big toe from a pedicure 2 years ago and tried different otc products with no luck My nail detached about 3/4 of the way down and grew thick and discolored. It was nasty. Finally I tried apple cider vinegar and it worked! First I cut my nail back as low down to the quick as I could which basically was almost my whole nail, I took a file and filed the top of what was left of my nail down until it was nearly smooth and even with my skin, it did hurt a little but not unbearable. Then every night I soaked a small ball of cotton with the vinegar, placed it on my toe and wrapped it with a bandaid and slept with it on. In the morning I would shower and be sure to really clean my toe and let it breath. I did this for over a month and finally one morning I was checking it out and my toe looked pink and healthy at the base and began to grow back. Now, it’s nearly grown back after 3 months. Now I just wear the cotton ball bandaid about twice a week to keep it from coming back. When it is fully grown back I will discontinue it. This works! It’s cheap and effective and it takes patience but it DOES work!
