Bear with me-I am about to get a little bit scientific here, but I find this to be an exciting way to combat fungus without using harsh chemicals. Medium chain fatty acids are almost miracles in how they work as natural fungicides. The fungal membrane is crucial to maintaining the “life” of the fungus, which is why many antifungal treatments target the fungal membrane. Fatty acids, such as the ones found abundantly in coconut oil, naturally insert themselves in the lipid (fat) layer of the fungal membrane and disturb it, leading eventually to cell disintegration and the ultimate destruction of the fungus (to put it in a nutshell.)

Try Cinnamon Leaf Oil as is a very powerful anti-fungal and dries out the nail nicely. In my case it helped to flake off the nail that was full of fungus until a new nail started to grow. Don’t know how I lived with it for so long. Apple Cider vinegar was too mild for me. Apparently to prevent it from coming back you really have to drink Cinnamon Tea (not Cassia Cinnamon which can damage your liver). I discovered I was eating all the wrong foods and my whole body was infested with a Candida overgrowth. Drinking the Cinnamon tea really cleaned up my system. I don’t eat too much sweets or dairy anymore, which seems to be the key. Oh yeah one more thing you really have to keep your toes dry and clean. I threw all my shoes and socks away, but well worth it for the results. If you want fast results, you really have to go with Cinnamon Leaf Oil. Since then I have been using the Cinnamon oil all around the house to disinfect and get rid of bad smells and mold in the bathroom. This oil is fantastic.
One of the more attractive things about Fungus Fix is that it will be easy on your wallet; it is a relatively inexpensive compound. It does seem to work for some people, too. The top of the bottle has an applicator brush so applying the solution to the nails will not present any difficulties. Although it is not mentioned, it might be a good idea to wash off the brush with soap and water, and then dry it, before returning it to the bottle to prevent contaminating the remaining liquid with the fungus.

While they may not seem connected, the health of your digestive system can have an impact on the growth of nail fungus. Healthy gut bacteria can help prevent the growth of fungi and microbes in the body; an imbalance of flora in the digestive system can lead to fungal overgrowth. Maintaining gut health can help minimize the spread of nail fungus and keep it from returning in the future.

Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, used vinegar as early as 400 BC to treat infections. Modern researches too have confirmed the anti-microbial properties of vinegar. However, this is in regard of vinegar’s properties as food preservatives. Although there are no strong scientific researches supporting the claim of traditional remedies favoring vinegar as an effective remedy for infections, many people who have used it to treat their nail fungus had been successful in eliminating the infection. This may be due to the natural acids present in vinegar.

Thank you for sharing your home cure. I too got an injury on my big toe at the nail and now for the last year and a half I have been suffering from terrible toe nail fungus. I have tried everything under the sun topical and internal to rid my toe of this problem. I’m embarrassed to wear sandals in the summer and so I have been having to wear socks and tennis shoes all year around even though I’m sure air would be much better for my problem. I’m sooo glad I came across your message it gives me hope that maybe I can rid myself of this painful problem once and for all.
Paronychia is the name for redness and swelling of the skin around the nail beds. Sudden onset paronychia if typically caused by bacteria entering an inflamed or injured cuticle; warm soaks and compresses can alleviate pain and redness, but a doctor may need to drain the area. Long-term, repeated, or severe infections may require treatment with antibiotics.
In a study conducted back in 1990, the researchers found that grapefruit seed extract as effective and sometimes even better than 30 antibiotics and 18 fungicides. This makes this natural extract derived from the seeds and pulp of very nutritious grapefruit suitable to cure a wide variety of fungal infections. It can be applied topically as well as taken internally. When taken internally, it cures yeast infections, thrush, candidiasis, nail infections and athlete’s foot.
If you have an infection, you might be feeling alarmed. You might feel self-conscious about the condition and feel like you’re alone. Rest easy. Toenail fungus may be an eyesore, but it isn’t a reason for embarrassment. In fact, it is surprisingly common; more than 10% of adults have fungal nail infections. Additionally, 20% of adults over the age of 60 deal with fungus as well.
You might consider a “water-based” nail polish, such as Acquarella. It’s “halaal,” which, to Muslim women, means it allows water to pass through and reach the nail. I’m not sure if all water-based polishes are considered halaal, but I know Acquarella is. I don’t know if this would mean that any “treatments” would still get through to the nail, but I do know this polish allows your nails to breathe at least.
The key to effectively fighting toenail fungus with essential oils is consistency. You need to be religious with using essential oils to see lasting results. You can’t do this once a day, then miss a day here and there and say you’re not seeing changes. If you use these two oils four times a day for two months, in 90+ percent of cases, it will clear up your toenail fungus for good!

Because you’re removing the majority of sugars and grains from your diet, in addition to fiber, I also recommend increasing the amount of protein-rich foods you’re eating. Make sure to buy grass-fed meat; organic, cage-free eggs or poultry; raw, unpasteurized dairy; and wild-caught fish — this is key for obtaining enough protein while also reducing toxins in your diet.

First, mix 1 cup of your chosen vinegar with enough water to soak your feet in. Soak for 15 minutes, and then pat dry with paper towels. Follow this by adding several tablespoons of baking soda to enough water to soak your feet in, and soak for 15 minutes. Pat feet completely dry with paper towels. Do this twice a day. The idea is that the vinegar will kill off the fungus, while the baking soda will then inhibit the growth of more.

Medications prescribed for toenail fungus provide mixed results. And, they’re not without side effects. Your liver (as your body’s detox organ) takes the brunt of the chemicals found in all medications. If the liver is compromised in any way, medications add to the burden and can result in further damage or impaired function. Also, other significant health risks exist for those with autoimmune conditions.[1]
